KJ Dance

I started dancing around the age of 2 and have never looked back since. After making the move to Dallas, TX when I was 5 years old, I started training at the studio that would shape me into the dancer I am today, KJ Dance. It was here where I learned the value of hard work and determination and that you have to work towards success it can’t just be handed to you. I also learned how to not just be a good performer, but a good human. Thanks to studio owner Kristy Blakeslee, I was presented with opportunities to work and be choreographed on by many different people including; Peter Chu, Corey Snide, Ida Saki, Andy Pellick, and many more. While we were doing competitions, what was really valued was your artistry and your spirit and that is why I value my time at KJ so much.

High School

In high school is when I discovered my love for theatre. I took a small break from dancing competitively from my freshman-junior year of high school and embraced doing other forms of dancing besides competitions. I was then involved with my Pom team eventually serving as Captain and was involved in the musicals my high school would perform every year. This lead me to be a part of my church’s production called Prestonwood’s Gift of Christmas. This show has an annual audience of 72,000 people and it was an incredible experience for me as I learned what it takes to put on a production of that size.

OCU

Senior year of high school I was faced with the decision of where to attend school. OCU immediately caught my eye because the program was everything that I wanted. Since I stepped foot on campus, I constantly felt supported and was getting to do what I loved everyday. Since I began attending, I have declared a major of Dance Performance and have been able to experience multiple performance opportunities within the Star Dance Company. I was also able to work on my leadership skills as I hold a position on the executive board for my sorority Alpha Phi and have served as a Line Captain for multiple choreographers in the Star Dance Company. I have loved my time at OCU and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
